Mayor of Burke Shire Council calls for better government treatment amid floods
North West Queensland has been impacted by heavy flooding and Burk Shire Mayor Ernie Camp believes the state government has abandoned them.
Outback towns have been cut off, local airstrips are under water, stores and petrol have run down and there are serious concerns of bacterial diseases spreading.
“Flood waters have dropped but we are certainly still isolated and in the point of recovery,” Mr Burke told Bill McDonald.
“We now have to bring our people forward, the government needs to give us the same standard of living as the rest of Australia.”
