McGrath Foundation sets ‘lofty goal’ for this year’s Pink Test
The 11th Pink Test is underway at the Sydney Cricket Ground and it’s all about raising awareness and funds for Australian women living with breast cancer.
The highlight of the Test is Jane McGrath day, which will be held on Saturday.
It’s a day when the iconic SCG is a sea of pink to honour the late Jane McGrath, who died of breast cancer in 2008.
For this year’s 11th annual Pink Test, the McGrath Foundation has set itself an ambitious target.
They’re hoping to raise $2.1 million over the five days of the Test, which will help fund 15 breast care nurses for one year.
The foundation has already funded 120 breast care nurses and touched over 60,000 Australian families.
Former Australian Test cricketer and the McGrath Foundation’s co-founder, Glenn McGrath, tells Chris Smith they’re aiming high this year.
“A goal of the foundation is every family, every individual going through breast cancer, has access to a breast care nurse where they live… and it’s a totally free service.
“We’re about 100 shy of covering the whole country.
“That’s why we’ve set ourselves a pretty lofty goal of what we want to raise out of this Test match.”
