Milo Yiannopoulos speaks with Alan Jones after violent protests
Conservative commentator Milo Yiannopoulos says violent clashes outside his event in Melbourne were an attempt to stop free speech.
Protesters discharging missiles, armed with bottles and pieces of wood caused mayhem ahead of the Brit’s speaking engagement at Kensington.
Speaking with Alan Jones, Yiannopoulos says he was ushered out of the venue safely, but won’t be silenced.
“There was a lot of kerfuffle. It was not as the newspapers are reporting it, a clash between far left and far right. It was the left showing up, being violent to stop people’s speech.
“It suggests all kinds of things about Australia as a country. It doesn’t speak highly of the country.”
A police officer and a 60-year-old woman have been injured. Two people have now been charged.
