A mother has spoken out after her daughter came across shocking videos showing the alleged prolonged torture of a young girl on TikTok.

The videos in question will form part of a police investigation into the alleged assault which took place over several hours on March 11 on the Sunshine Coast.

It’s alleged a 13-year-old girl was invited to a Tewantin home earlier this month, where she was filmed while being assaulted, taunted and cut.

Three girls, aged between 12 and 14, have been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and deprivation of liberty.

Listener Claudia’s daughter was watching footage of the alleged assault as it was posted online, and says it raises questions about the integrity of social media.

“I didn’t watch the whole thing because I was quite disgusted by it,” she told Sofie Formica.

“It was shocking for it to be up and [for] all these children to be watching it and for taking it so lightly.”
