Liberal MP Angie Bell has written to the Speaker of the House over a “slur” she says was thrown at her by a Labor MP.

It’s alleged Sam Rae, the member for Hawke, interjected on a speech about the government’s childcare policies by Ms Bell to yell, “at least I have my own children”.

Liberal Party deputy leader Sussan Ley told Ray Hadley while Mr Rae denies he made the comments, she has no doubt that’s what was said.

“He does deny it but what I did was actually ask him, ‘Well, what did you say?’ and I got complete silence.”
