It’s been a long time since man last set foot on the moon, 50 years to be exact. 1972 was the year that Apollo 17 astronauts visited the moon, before splashing down in the Pacific.

Today, the focus for NASA is largely on Mars, with a new year-long program, designed to mimic how astronauts will live on the Red Planet.

Scott M. Smith, Nutritionist and Manager for Nutritional Biochemistry at NASA’s Johnson Space Center joined John Stanley to talk about the project.
