National Greyhound Adoption Day
This Sunday marks National Greyhound Adoption Day.
The racing life of a greyhound is usually over by the time they’ve reached five years of age, and as a breed that lives for 13 or 14 years, finding them homes is crucial.
Ambassador Todd McKenney tells Alan Jones they’re a “misunderstood breed”.
“They’re a very gentle, loving, soulful dog, who just happens to have the ability to run like the wind.
“Because of the muzzling law people think that the greyhound is inherently vicious, well they’re not.”
Sydney’s adoption day will be at Wentworth Park in Glebe from 10am to 2pm.
Brisbane’s adoption day will be at Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club in Albion from 9am to 1pm.
