Neil Breen calls for calm over ‘clickbait garbage’ in Australia’s housing market
Neil Breen has hit out what he calls misinformation in news reports on the housing market, slamming it as “clickbait garbage”.
He said the market was volatile, but it was important to stay calm with the ups and downs in the market.
“I try and stay away from the stories because in the same box of major news websites they will have ‘we can’t sell the houses’ and right next to it ‘record price for house at Stretton’.
“I think the misinformation for clickbait in the real estate industry is disgraceful.”

Speaking to Neil about Labor’s proposal to free up housing stock, REIQ chief financial officer Dean Milton said it’s best to stick to the facts.
“The best indicator is the number of mortgages being taken out and the number of owner occupiers, investors and first home buyers, and they are all moderating but they are still above pre-COVID levels.”
He said the market is returning to a “healthier market” but houses were staying on the market for longer.
