Neil Breen rubbishes Deputy Premier’s 2032 Games claim
The Deputy Premier has rejected reports the state government has scrapped an independent body to oversee infrastructure for Brisbane’s 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
A state government co-ordination agency will oversee infrastructure for the 2023 Games.
Former Prime Minister Scott Morrison told The Australian newspaper establishing an Olympic Coordination Authority between the federal, state and local governments was critical to the good governance of projects related to the Games.
But Steven Miles hit back, saying that claim was incorrect.
“This notion that’s come from Scott Morrison that it would somehow be joint or independent, that doesn’t exist anywhere,” he said at a press conference today.
But Neil Breen said the Olympic Coordination Authority featured heavily in Brisbane’s bid to the International Olympic Committee.
He read from the document, saying it rubbished what Mr Miles said today.
“Listen, Deputy Premier, do you think we are stupid?”
