New life-saving jewellery being developed in Queensland

Queensland science and design researchers have come together to create potentially life-saving UV-sensing jewellery.

The jewellery, developed at the Queensland University of Technology, uses a dye technology that changes to pink when exposed to too much sun.

Co-designer Levi Swann told Sofie Formica how important it is to be aware of the risk UV radiation can have.

“We can have damage from the sun in literally minutes so it’s a really confronting thing when someone realises this is changing colour quickly.”
