A 22-storey hotel would be built at Movie World on the Gold Coast under a $333 million proposal.

The original plans for a smaller hotel were approved back in 2017.

But the Gold Coast Bulletin reports Village Roadshow has super-sized its plans, and hopes to build a hotel with 600 rooms including a mix of two-bedroom rooms and suites.

It would be fitted with a gym, sauna and kids clubs as well as a function centre.

The hotel would also include a panoramic sky deck, with bars and restaurants.

If the new plans are approved, the company expects 876,000 customers in the hotel’s first five years of operation.

It’s similar to the theme parks in the US, where you can stay on site at Disneyland and Disney World.
