New text check-in system for Queenslanders in home quarantine
Queenslanders in home quarantine will be sent text messages to check on their compliance as part of a new check-in system.
From today, they will be texted randomly and given just 10 minutes to respond and share their location.
It’s part of an expanded home quarantine trial announced by Premier Annastacia Palaszcuzk for returning students from interstate boarding schools.
Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said it will keep tabs on those in home isolation, as well as allowing authorities to check on the welfare of people in home quarantine.
It’s understood that potential breaches of the system will be assessed by authorities.
“Home quarantine seems to be the way go, by the end of the year I reckon there will be a lot of people doing home quarantine rather than hotel quarantine,” Scott Emerson said.
