‘No place for them’: Neil Breen weighs in on Grace Tame’s explosive call claim
The person behind a phone call that pressured Grace Tame not to be critical of the Prime Minister needs to resign today, Neil Breen says.
The former Australian of the Year yesterday claimed she received a threatening call from a “senior member of a government-funded organisation” in August last year.
She said she was asked not to criticise Mr Morrison in the lead-up to the election, given her ‘influence’ on the public.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports she was referring to a senior representative from the National Australia Day Council.
But the council denies the interpretation that Ms Tame was ‘threatened’.
“That person from the Australia Day Council needs to stick their hand up today and say ‘It was me’ and resign,” Neil said.
“There is no place for them if they’re going to be calling Grace Tame and putting pressure on her. That’s what Grace Tame has been fighting in the first place!
“That person has to clear the air, clear the air for the Prime Minister and the rest of us, and quit.”
