A woman who lost three family members in a horrific crash on the Gold Coast has called for mandatory jail time for drivers who evade police. 

Susan Zimmer, her partner Chris Fawcett and her daughter Steffanie were killed at Bonogin last week when a car allegedly driven by Uiatu ‘Joan’ Taufua ploughed into their vehicle.

It’s alleged Ms Taufua had evaded police moments before the crash.

Claudine Snow, Susan Zimmer’s daughter and Steffanie’s sister, told Peter Fegan on 4BC Summer Mornings she’s determined to ensure their deaths won’t be in vain.

“My mum, … she would not want another soul to be taken under these circumstances,” she said.

“Something needs to change and yes, there are rules and policies set up but they should be there to be reviewed.

“I would like to see a harsh, mandatory sentence for failing to pull over for police and evading police.”

Ms Taufua, the mother of Broncos star Payne Haas, was charged by police with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evade police and drive without a driver’s license.
