Novak Djokovic headlines official entry list for the Australian Open
Novak Djokovic has been named on the official entry list for the Australian Open.
Tennis Australia on Wednesday released the official list of players, despite the World no.1 not revealing his vaccination status.
It’s not clear if he will play.
The Victorian government has remained steadfast that all players, staff and spectators must be vaccinated to attend the Australian Open.
It’s also unknown if the Serbian will fly into Sydney and complete 14 days quarantine, and seek an exemption to play in Melbourne.
A Current Affair’s senior reporter Dan Nolan said it would make a “joke of the system”.
“If Novak Djokovic gets out here and is not fully vaccinated I think the Australian Open should hang their heads in shame, as should the Victorian government,” he said on 4BC Drive.
“There’s a Victorian government mandate that people cannot enter Victoria if they are not double vaccinated, so how could this guy whose a known anti-vaxxer somehow flout that with some flaky medical exemption.”
Scott Emerson said it would be a disgrace.
“It will be a joke. The joker will make us look like a joke.”
