NRL star Jai Arrow’s dog mauls greyhound to death in second attack
A NSW couple are demanding answers after their pet greyhound was mauled to death by NRL star Jai Arrow’s dog earlier this month.
John Gowans was walking his 11-year-old dog, Ruby, when she was attacked by Arrow’s American Staffordshire Terrier, just 100 metres from their Bateau Bay home.
It’s alleged Thor bolted out of a home and latched on to the greyhound, leaving her with a punctured thorax, dislocated jaw and deep cuts.
“This other dog was just on her like a flash,” Gowans told NBN. “I didn’t see it coming, I couldn’t protect her, I couldn’t do anything.”
Ruby was rushed to the nearest vet but couldn’t be saved.
It came just months after Arrow’s dog, Thor, was deemed dangerous by Waverly Council for mauling another dog at Bronte Beach in April.
The dog was seriously injured and its owner left with a $10,000 vet bill, which Arrow covered.
Thor had reportedly been staying with Arrow’s sister at the time Gownans’ greyhound was attacked but Waverly Council says it was not made aware the dog had been moved to the Central Coast.
Central Coast Council is investigating the attack and is holding Thor.
