NSW-Queensland border bubble back on after COVID scare
Queensland has reinstated the border bubble with the Tweed shire and Coolangatta.
Both the Tweed and Byron Bay regions will emerge from lockdown at midnight, after a person travelled to the region from Sydney while infected with COVID-19.
It means from 1am tomorrow, residents from these regions can cross into Queensland for more reasons.
Tweed Shire Mayor Chris Cherry said families can’t connect across the border, but at least it was good news for businesses.
“To have them act so quickly it is just incredible,” she said.
“Tomorrow we will be able to get out people back to work.”
People will be able to cross the border for essential work purposes, medical appointments, shared custody arrangements, education and more.
