Opposition blasts Public Works Minister as predator tradie retains licence
A Townsville tradie is free to continue working despite pleading guilty to sexually assaulting women while he carried out work in their homes.
William Emanuel Camilleri pleaded guilty to eight counts of sexual assault and was given a 12-month sentence, suspended for three years.
His solely owned business WEC Constructions still holds a building licence two weeks after Public Works Minister Mick de Brenni vowed to move against Mr Camilleri.
Shadow Minister for Housing and Public Works Tim Mander told Ray Hadley he’s outraged nothing’s been done to protect other women.
“This guy has been doing it for years: trying on women within basically minutes of arriving into their homes where they’re by themselves.
“I think their rationale was someone’s private life shouldn’t have anything to do with their working life.
“That could provide a risk to everyday Queenslanders who want work done to their homes.”
