There is no doubt the people of South Australia are angry.

South Australian Labor Premier Jay Weatherill has been ousted, announcing his resignation after losing Saturday’s state election.

The outgoing premier says he’ll remain on the backbench but isn’t looking to go to Canberra.

Liberal Premier-elect Stephen Marshall will take over.

“I’m just very pleased that the South Australian public have voted for a more sensible, affordable and reliable energy policy,” says Environment Minister Josh Frydenberg.

“Unfortunately, under Jay Weatherill and the Labor party, South Australia had the unenviable record of having the highest electricity prices in the country and the least stable system.

“What we now have with Stephen Marshall is an opportunity to correct those mistakes.”
