Parkes Elvis Festival: A tribute to the king
It may be 40 years since Elvis left the building, but every year more than 25,000 Elvis fans descend on the NSW town of Parkes for the annual Elvis festival.
The festival is reviewed worldwide as one of the largest gatherings of Elvis enthusiasts, impersonators and fans of the king’s career.
Chris Smith speaks with the director of the Parkes Elvis Festival Cathy Treasure.
“It’s the best place to come for a bit of people watching.
This year’s festival returns next Wednesday January 10, and the theme will mark the 50-year anniversary of Elvis’ 1968 comeback special.
