A proud Australian couple has taken it upon themselves to clean up an act of disgusting vandalism.

The pair heard about the graffiti, including the slogans ‘F*** Straya Day’ and ‘Invasion Day: Nothing to celebrate’, via a local community Facebook page and decided to do something about it.

They emailed Ray Hadley saying, “my husband and I grabbed our paint and we painted over it at 7.30am”.

Fellow members of the community, on their morning walk, thanked them for their good deed.

“Happy Australia Day Ray!

Just wanted to let you know, that on waking this morning, I saw a post on our local face book page with photos of graffiti all over new structures at our beautiful Botanical Gardens.

My husband and I grabbed our paint and we painted over it at 7.30….All the walkers thanked us for it!
