Paul Wade has named Morocco’s fairytale win “the biggest moment” out of the World Cup this weekend.

The 1-0 victory over Portugal has catapulted the nation into football history as the first African and Arab country to reach the tournament’s semi-finals.

“Wow,” Wade said to Spencer Howson on 4BC Summer Breakfast. “Did that have everything or what?

“They were 22nd in the world on the rankings before this World Cup started and they’ve beat the ninth-best team.

“In fact, they’ve knocked some of the biggest guns in this competition out.

“It’s exciting to see the first African nation to get to a semi-final in World Cup history and there’s been 21 of them, 22 now! ”
