Peter Fegan challenges NRL Chief on ‘six-again’ rule
NRL CEO Andrew Abdo has backed the ‘six-again’ rule, saying there’s “plenty of communication” between the referees and the players.
It comes after Queensland endured five repeat sets in a row shortly before half-time in last night’s defeat to New South Wales.
“I am 100 per cent supportive of the way the match was officiated,” Mr Abdo said on 4BC Drive.
“I think that the match was officiated in the same way that it was in Game I, in that referee’s adjudicating what’s in front of him.
“The six-again rule was brought in to ensure that teams that are defending are not slowing down the play of the ball and to eliminate the wrestle, and now we have a mix of that.”
