Peter Psaltis makes the case to shift Olympic plans away from the Gabba
Peter Psaltis has floated the idea to refocus Brisbane’s Olympic Games plans, and instead look at building a new stadium at Albion instead of redeveloping the Gabba.
He said it was important to get it right, like Sydney in 2000.
“The Olympics in my opinion is the perfect opportunity to build state-of-the-art stadiums and venues that can leave a legacy in this city, not to touch up relics,” he said on Wide World of Sports.
“The only thing I would do differently to what’s planned, and that is forget about the Gabba.
“I think it’s going to cause too much chaos and to much expense if you are talking about tunnelling Stanley and Vulture streets, please, the city will be a gridlock for about three years.
“I think there is a better alternative, we need a new main stadium, and that should be built in my opinion, at the rail yards at Albion.”
