Peter Psaltis has criticised the controversial decision not to award rankings points at Wimbledon in 2022, saying it has impacted many players in this year’s Australian Open.

Elena Rybakina will take on Victoria Asarenka in the semi-finals tomorrow.

He said the reigning Wimbledon champion should be ranked higher.

“Rybakina, I think she will win …  [but] it won’t be all straight forward,” he told Bill McDonald, from the tournament in Melbourne.

“I’ll get on my soap box here a little bit.

“I think Wimbledon made a big, big mistake last year by not offering rankings points and it’s affected a lot of players, and I think Rob she should have been seeded a lot higher.”
