Peter Psaltis: The change that would go ‘hand in hand’ with new concussion rule
The NRL has confirmed its biggest shake-up to player safety protocols, introducing a mandatory 11-day stand down period for any player diagnosed with a category one concussion.
The new rules will be in place for Round 3 which begins with tomorrow’s clash between Parramatta and Manly.
ARLC Chairman Peter V’landys says there’s no grater priority than player safety.
4BC Wide World of Sports host Peter Psaltis said the league also needs to amend the rule around using players on development contracts, which would go “hand in hand” with this new rule.
“I applaud what the NRL have done here, but I will suggest this.
“I think the NRL has to scrap this ridiculous rule that they’ve got that development players cannot play until Round 11.”
