A Buderim local has found the most Aussie way to compete in a marathon – donning a pair of sandals to run 42 kilometres.

Sam Stow competed in the Beerwah Daybreak Marathon, running on dirt tracks, in a pair of sandals.

The track was “pretty gnarly” but he said he loved it.

He did it in pretty good time, too, although he did cop a few blood blisters!

“I’m a running technique coach and a running coach, and I have been passionate fairly natural and minimal for quite some time, and I thought I would just go out there and test myself and make a point,” he told Neil Breen.

Press PLAY below to hear him explain more about why he did it!
