Pimpama blanketed in smoke as fire rips through hectares of vegetation
Dozens of fire crews have been called to help contain a vegetation fire on the Gold Coast.
The blaze initially broke out along Greenmeadows Road and Kerkin Road in Pimpama around 6.30am but has continued to burn through more than 15 acres of land this morning.
Queensland Fire and Emergency has advised residents to stay indoors with windows and doors closed as smoke continues to impact the area.
Motorists have been told to avoid driving through the smoke where possible.
No injuries have been reported at this stage.
