Andrew Abdo: It genuinely has been a team effort
After another COVID interrupted year, NRL CEO Andrew Abdo is relieved the competition got through to grand final day unscathed.
“I must admit, this week has been hard because there’s so much at stake. It has been tough because we’ve been in the hands of the Queensland Government and obviously we’ve seen a number of community infections over the past couple of days. Luckily they got things under control and we were able to proceed with a large crowd.
“There’s two teams taking the field today. But there’s also a third team – team rugby league. It’s just been a wonderful effort by everyone to relocate the competition.”
Abdo was full of praise for all the stakeholders – the clubs, sponsors, media and fans, for coming together to keep the competition running with minimal interruption.
