Aussie Olympians to be counseled on podium protests as IOC threatens bans
Ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, the International Olympic Committee has banned political statements and protests during medal ceremonies.
This follows a range of incidents at recent World Championships, as well as previous Olympics, highlighted by Mack Horton’s refusal to take the podium next to Chinese swimmer Sun Yang.
Australia’s Olympic boss Matt Carroll told Nine’s Cam Reddin athletes have been spoken to about their conduct around the daeus.
