Aussies on high alert for mosquito-borne disease

Health authorities warn locals to vaccinate early against Japanese encephalitis and cover up as mosquito populations expand across western NSW.

Recent flooding has caused a higher risk of mosquito arboviruses. Experts are now concerned about new mosquito breeds, including one that bites humans and animals.

With summer fast approaching, we are being warned to cover up and stay vigilant.

Dr Cameron Webb, Assoc. Professor Medical Entomology has been journeying around Canberra for the past couple of days chasing mosquitoes to collect data about these pesky creatures, and he joins John Stanley.
