Beanies for Brain Cancer Round underway once again in 2021
It’s one of the biggest weekends in the NRL calendar with the annual Beanies for Brain Cancer Round.
The prestigious Round launched at NRL HQ on Wednesday before participants began the inaugural Big Three Trek where a number of people from the NRL community walked 150 kilometres from Sydney to Newcastle.
The Mark Hughes Foundation was founded in 2014 after Rugby League legend Mark Hughes was diagnosed with brain cancer to raise awareness and funds for much needed research.
Ahead of the highly anticipated Beanies for Brain Cancer Round, the Foundation has pledged $7.5 million to the University of Newcastle to help find better treatments for brain cancer.
They’ve raised more than $20 million so far, but this is only just the beginning.
Mark Hughes, Founder of the Mark Hughes Foundation joins The Continuous Call Team to give us an update on the fundraising efforts so far this weekend.
