Phil O’Neil speaks with Professor Colin Holbrook on AI Over trust.  A UC Merced study found that about two-thirds of participants let a robot change their life-or-death decisions, even after being warned that the AI’s advice was unreliable.

The AI’s suggestions were actually random, yet people still trusted them.

Professor Holbrook warns that as AI advances, society must be wary of over trusting it, especially when mistakes could have serious consequences. Instead, he emphasizes the need for a healthy level of doubt when interacting with AI.
