‘Blunt’ assessment of Queensland’s child protection system
The Child Death Review Board 2023-24 Annual Report was tabled in the Queensland Parliament, providing insight into how the system responded to 70 child death cases over the past year.
The review board made nine recommendations to improve Queensland’s child protection system.
Board Chair, Chief Executive, and Principal Commissioner of the Queensland Family and Child Commission, Luke Twyford, told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, “I think this year we’ve been pretty blunt in our assessment.”
“We’ve called for further clarity from the new government around which of our recommendations they will take forward.”
“I’m really keen to ensure that leads to implementation and strong practice, and the board will be monitoring how the current government continues to implement our recommendations,” Mr Twyford continued.
