Brisbane’s kerbside chaos: 60+ suburbs await pick-up amid surge

Sofie Formica

Brisbane residents have an excess of unwanted items, with more than 60 suburbs still awaiting kerbside pick-up due to a 30 per cent increase in discarded goods.

Civic Cabinet Chair for City Standards, Councillor Sarah Hutton, told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, “We’ve actually seen an enormous increase in the amount that people have put out on their kerbside, and it is actually taking us a little while to get on top of the backlog.”

“But can I assure you that our crews are out there and they’ll be collecting over the weekend to get the job done.”

“We just want to say thank you to the Brisbane residents for your patience during this time,” Councillor Hutton continued.
