Call for urgent rent relief as many still struggle

Mike Jeffreys

National housing campaign Everybody’s Home is urging greater financial support for low-income renters, as new data reveals that nearly 42% of Commonwealth Rent Assistance (CRA) recipients remain in rental stress.

Mike speaks with Everybody’s Home spokesperson Maiy Azize, who stresses the need to reform CRA and increase Centrelink payments to better support struggling renters.

“More than two in five rent assistance recipients are still in rental stress, highlighting skyrocketing rents and inadequate support,” Azize says, calling for urgent government action to fix CRA and raise JobSeeker rates.
