Combating vaping use in young people
Luke is joined by Ruth Limkin, the founder of The Banyans Healthcare, to discuss the scourge of vaping amongst young Australians today.
Despite it being illegal for e-cigarettes to be sold to those under the age of 18, one in four teens between 14-17 have vaped with the average age of first use concerningly being just 14-years-old.
So far this year, six young people were hospitalised in New South Wales after using vapes purchased off the social media app Snapchat – but health warnings are falling upon deaf ears with more than 3.5 million Australians aged 14 or older either smoking or vaping.
Ms Limkin talks about the importance of early intervention for addiction and gives some tips for friends or family members who are concerned about a loved one who may be experiencing addiction.
