Cupra Formentor SUV – Spanish built performance SUV with a point of difference
The Spanish performance brand Cupra has been on sale now for 12 months, its
striking Formentor mid-size Coupe style SUV the big seller. The Formentor
available in two 2.0-litre turbo petrol and one 1.4-litre petrol electric hybrid and
depending on model front or all-wheel drive. I recently tested the Formentor VZ
front wheel drive at $56,990 however a leather and power option pack with power
leather seats, power tailgate and a glass sunroof can soon add around $5,000.
Cupra’s logo, badging and wheel highlights in dull gold adding a point of
difference to a striking sports body with raked coupe like styling. If you like a little
sports flair in your motoring, you’ll like the Formentor VZ – a 2.0-litre turbo four
cylinder with 228kW of power, 400 Nm of torque it cracks and pops under load
driving through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic giving it an air of driving
excitement. Cupra part of the Volkswagen Group has really hit a winner with this
new performance brand and it’s well worth a look. Warranty five years/unlimited
kilometre with a welcome three years complimentary servicing. The brand has
also gained real presence in the City with an impressive showcase on the corner
of Pitt and Hunter Streets. I’m David Berthon
