Dodging Scammers: Why Aussies Are Avoiding Unknown Calls

Phil O'Neil

Phil speaks with Tom Beach, Telstra’s Consumer and Base Management Executive, about new research showing that 42% of Australians are less likely to answer calls due to scam concerns.

Women are more cautious than men (47% vs. 36%), and Gen X leads in hesitancy at 45%, followed by Baby Boomers (42%) and Millennials (41%).

With scammers using sophisticated tactics, Telstra blocks over 11 million scam calls monthly.

To combat this, Telstra has launched Scam Protect, a real-time warning system now active on over 10 million calls.
