Donald Trump dumps electric vehicle target
Mike speaks with Trent Nikolic from Drive.com about President Donald Trump’s repeal of America’s electric vehicle target and its impact on car manufacturing.
On his first day back in office, Trump scrapped the non-binding goal for half of all new US vehicle sales to be zero-emission by 2030, a policy set by President Joe Biden in 2021. Supported by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the move reverses backing from major automakers like General Motors and Ford.
With the policy now removed from the White House website, the decision could reshape global car manufacturing as Chinese EV exports rise and automakers rethink their electric strategies.
