First Nations Cultural Centre proposal to be reviewed by state government
Queensland Premier David Crisafulli has declared that the state needs to create more Indigenous tourism experiences.
Premier Crisafulli says the government will review the recommendation for a First Nations cultural centre at South Bank to demonstrate the art and history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Deputy Chairman of the Brisbane 2032 Legacy Committee & Head of First Nations Tourism Council, Cameron Costello told Shane Doherty on Summer Drive, “I just think when the eyes of the world are upon us on 2032 that we want to ensure that we’ve got a cultural precinct that has within it an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural centre.”
“It seems to be the missing piece that’s been sitting there for a while that I think if we’re talking about legacy and tourism infrastructure, that’s an essential item,” Mr Costello said.
