Bernie Shakeshaft, a former dingo tracker and jackeroo, now the founder of BackTrack, a youth education and training program that focuses on helping kids who are unlikely to finish school or are homeless, and keeping them out of jail.

Shakeshaft’s program offers practical skills training, such as welding, farm work, and construction, along with reading, writing, and math.

BackTrack also provides a safe home for those who need it, and teaches kids how to train working dogs with his program having had impressive results in keeping kids out of detention centers and reducing youth crime rates.
