FULL SHOW: 4BC Weekend Breakfast with Olympia Kwitowski, Sunday 1st September 2024

Olympia Kwitowski

On the show today: Olympia is back to round out your weekend, with headlines and a Paralympics update thanks to 4BC News Reporter Richard French.
Gardening sees Arno King and Olympia discuss a good watering schedule for your plants and how to minimise water loss. Arno also talks about how to combat plant burning in these hotter times. Arno also answers your questions about a multi-coloured azalea, if it’s safe to eat stung passionfruit, and pruning native ginger. PLUS Arno shares some gardening events to get stuck into today.

In the second hour; Olympia chats with Judy Mayfield, President of the Association of Residents of Queensland Retirement Villages (ARQRV). Amid reports that the Department of Housing has launched an investigation into allegations that a Caloundra retirement village has stopped serving food to residents as it transitions to “rental only” accommodation – Judy dispels some myths about retirement villages and how they differ from Aged Care facilities. Judy also explains the process that needs to be followed to enact changes like these, and provides some helpful tips for anyone looking to move into a retirement village.
PLUS the QLD Music Trail is back, where 21 regions around our state play host to national and international artists. Their major event, Sweet Relief, is set to light up Ballymore next week  – with none other than international superstar Kelis performing. QLD Music Trail CEO Daryl Raven joins Olympia to talk more about their work and this event.
