On the show: Carla is back in the seat for Feegs and covering the day’s major headlines including breaking news that Queensland’s biggest hospital, the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, is without 24 hour mental health doctors in the psychiatric emergency unit. 

On the eve of National Homelessness Week; Q Shelter’s Policy and Strategic Engagement Manager, Jackson Hills, joins Carla after the organisation has called on candidates contesting this year’s state election to commit to ending homelessness in Queensland by the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games. Jackson talks about the key issues that lead to homelessness and the current statistics on who is experiencing housing stress or homelessness in our community.

It’s been a big week politically. For the Sunday Breakdown, Carla is joined by Nine’s Chief Political Editor Charles Croucher. From Prime Minister Albanese’s confirmation of the Government’s continued commitment to Makarrata, to the political show of the USA as the rivalry between former President Donald Trump and current Vice President Kamala Harris heightens. Charles gives his insights into the big issues.

Nine’s ‘The Ultimate Sacrifice’ podcast is under way, reporting on the inquest into the Wieambilla massacre that saw 3 people killed by religious extremists. Nine News Senior Producer and podcast producer, Jess Lodge, joins Carla in studio to discuss the inquest proceedings so far and the newly heard details of this tragic case.

In Local issues today, Dr Brad McKay joins to talk about a recent report that Queensland babies will be offered oral immunotherapy in a world first program. Dr McKay explains more about this and other pressing health issues in our state.
