FULL SHOW: Weekends with Peter Fegan – Saturday, 1st June 2024

Luke Grant

On the show: Feegs is kicking off your weekend with the current issues, including the guilty verdict handed down on President Trump and the slashing of the Airtrain Fares to and from Brisbane Airport. Feegs also gets fired up about the recent revelations that Townsville Mayor Troy Thompson allegedly lied about his military service – and we hear from Retired Australian Special Forces Commando and 20-year veteran Wes Hennessey who discusses just how insulting this is on those who have served.

Feegs also speaks to Utah’s 44th District Representative and the Vice Chair for the House of Rules Committee Jordan Teuscher about their recently passed ‘Utah Minor Protection in Social Media’ Act, which allows for an “age assurance system” to take effect to monitor if an account holder is a minor with astonishing accuracy.

Elsewhere on the show: Aspire Retire Financial Services co-founder Olivia Maragna joins for Money Talks – telling us all about the government’s super co-contribution scheme, an alarming increase in shipping and package delivery scams targeting Australians and a record level of funds needed by retirees to sustain a comfortable retirement. Acting Assistant Commissioner Andrew Massingham joins for his weekly update on the latest local crime issues and statistics. He updates us on Taskforce Guardian and if the magistrates are playing ball in recent cases.
For our Local Issues segment, Red Tape Buster Shane Bowering joins to provide comments on Peter’s run-in with a “Karen” a couple of weeks ago and how to get onto to council to take responsibility for maintaining council-owned land.

National Chief Correspondent for The Australian Hedley Thomas is back with a brand new podcast, following his 2018 hit ‘The Teacher’s Pet’. Hedley tells us about his new series, titled ‘Bronwyn’, telling the story of Lennox Head young mother Bronwyn Winfield who disappeared 31-years-ago, leaving behind her two children and never to be heard from again.
Nine’s Outback Special of My Way airs from 7:30pm and we hear from rodeo veteran and proud Waluwarra man Shilo Gosbee ahead of his feature on the program tonight.

PLUS 4BC Sports reporter Sam Leckie covers all the latest from the weekend’s action, and Celebrity chef Adrian ‘Richo’ Richardson joins to share a delicious recipe for crackling-wrapped rolled loin of pork.
