FULL SHOW: Weekends with Peter Fegan – Saturday, 8th June 2024

Luke Grant

On the show: Feegs is back and fired up about the recently reported 20-percent discount on Queenslanders car regos. Peter shares his thoughts and we hear from many who feel this might be another Labor vote grabbing measure ahead of the election.

Housing has also been a big talking point this week with the rising costs and lack of available housing in our state. Feegs chats with the QLD Executive Director of the Property Council of Australia Jess Caire about the crisis and any potential solutions that came from a recent Council function that brought together key stakeholders. Jess tells us how the tax system is working against Queenslanders and what she would like to see from the upcoming state budget.

We also continue on this topic for our Local Issues segment, as QHI Group CEO Scott Challen joins us in-studio to discuss his work at the coal face –  trying to deliver homes for Queenslanders. Scott explains the conflicting factors that can affect builders and developers ability to deliver on their projects and the masses of builders who have left the industry due to consistent losses and barriers put in place by the government.

We also hear the inspiring story of Tiana Saunders, a young Queenslander who was diagnosed at 7 years old with Neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that starts in early nerve cells. Now cancer-free, Tiana joins Peter to tell her story and share the ongoing work she does for current cancer patients, including gifting young patients the Kids’ Cancer Project Bear annually at the hospital where she had her first surgery.

Elsewhere on the show: Peter catches up with ARL Commissioner Kate Jones to break down the success of the 3-match women’s series and a sell out game in Newcastle. Kate tells of the effect this huge week in NRL can have on young women and girls wanting to play footy and also provides comment on the recent Fletch and Hindy Maroons interview that was off the mark.
Aspire Retire Financial Services co-founder Olivia Maragna joins for Money Talks, discussing the billions of dollars of lost money currently in Australia and how you can check if you have claim to any of it PLUS the tax incentives for first home buyers as we near the end of the financial year.
Acting Assistant Commissioner Andrew Massingham joins for his weekly update on the latest local crime issues and statistics, including an update on a recently injured police officer in Brisbane. He also updates us on the progress of Task Force Guardian.

PLUS 4BC Sports reporter Sam Leckie covers all the latest from the weekend’s action, and Celebrity chef Adrian ‘Richo’ Richardson joins us live in-studio and jumps on the dessert wagon today, sharing his personal take on a delicious Orange Cake.
