FULL SHOW: Weekends with Peter Fegan – Sunday, 15th September 2024

Peter Fegan

On the show: Feegs is back to round out your weekend, including commending Premier Steven Miles after he pledged to maintain 50 cent fares into the future if Labor wins the October election. But it’s not all glowing praise, with Feegs discussing shocking statistics dug up by the LNP showing a sharp crime increase in our state.

It’s been a big week politically. For the Sunday Breakdown, Feegs is joined by the editor of the Daily Mail Australia and former Political editor of 10 News – Peter Van Onslen. From Government spending growing at seven times the pace the economy is growing to this week’s to the Greens and Labor gearing up for a showdown in the Senate this week, with both sides accusing the other of failing on crucial housing reform. Peter gives his take on the big issues.

In Local issues today: Move over run clubs! There’s a new club in town and it’s the same type of community engagement but this time, they’re picking up rubbish. Co-founders of Boe Design and Rubbish Club, Magnus Murray-Douglass & Jemma Barker join Feegs in studio to tell us more about this new initiative.

Elsewhere on the show: One Queensland bakery has taken out a few titles, but most recently they claimed victory in the Great Aussie Pie Competition for the Best Game Pie in Australia. Huyen Khong from Bundaberg’s Paradise Bakehouse joins Feegs to talk about their unusual pie that took out the title.

Former detective Gary Jubelin was the former lead detective on the case of missing toddler William Tyrrell. Gary has remained a powerful voice in the fight for justice, and has written books (include ‘I Catch Killers’) and works on Nine’s ‘Under Investigation’ podcast. Gary joins Feegs to talk more about his recent work and the emotional and professional toll this work has on him.

PLUS: 4BC Sports Reporter Sam Leckie provides an extensive update on the weekend action, and we look ahead to the coming week with your long-range weather forecast.
