FULL SHOW: Weekends with Peter Fegan – Sunday, 21st July 2024

Luke Grant

On the show: Feegs is back and responds to Youth Justice Minister Di Farmer’s press conference yesterday, where she bragged about the Government’s Youth Co-Responder program. The program aims to break the mould of traditional policing by partnering police and youth justice workers to engage at-risk young people, helping divert them from criminal and antisocial behaviour. Feegs shares his contrasting experiences working closely with the teams involved and we hear your thoughts on the issue.

For the Sunday Breakdown, Daily Mail Political Editor Peter van Onselen joins Feegs to discuss the big political issues of the week. From the corruption allegations within the CFMEU to Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price’s latest comments on her first act if she was made Prime Minister to protestors being ignored outside of Albo’s office – Peter provides his perspective.

In Local issues today, we hear from clinician, author and international speaker, Dr Genevieve Dharamaraj. A leading group of international health specialists will travel to Brisbane this month to join forces at the Breaking Barriers summit, an immersive five-day event designed to unveil the transformative potential of digital therapeutics for individuals with autism spectrum disorders. Dr Gen tells us more about her work in helping non-verbal children find their voice and what you can expect from this summit.

The Rivermakers Farmers and Artisan Markets is one of the first new markets to launch in Brisbane in several years. Managing Director of Goodwill Projects, Mark Power joins amid today’s launch to tell us what we can expect: from stall holders to delicious eats in a gorgeous riverside location.

Weekend Today show host Jayne Azzopardi has been named as a new addition to the Today Show team, replacing newsreader Brook Boney from next week. Jayne calls in to tell us more about her history with Nine and how she feels about this new opportunity.

PLUS: The Olympics are very nearly here! In celebration, Feegs chats with 2x Olympic athlete Duncan Armstrong who made his mark at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, where he won gold in the 200m freestyle and silver in the 400m freestyle. His gold medal swim solidified his place in swimming history, and Duncan reflects on his journey while also looking ahead to this year’s games.

4BC Sports Report Sam Leckie makes a return to provide an extensive update on the weekend action, and we look ahead to the coming week with your long-range weather forecast.
