FULL SHOW: Weekends with Peter Fegan – Sunday, 9th June 2024

Luke Grant

On the show: Feegs is back to round up your weekend. First up, Peter checks in with critical care paramedic Dr Stephen Rashford following a horrific crash in Forest Lake overnight, with five people still in hospital receiving treatment. Dr Rashford gives us insight into the scale of the incident and the condition of the victims at present.

Former Sunrise reporter and 4BC fill-in host Bianca Stone will take on Housing Minister Meaghan Scanlon in this year’s state election after winning LNP preselection for the Gold Coast seat of Gaven. Bianca joins Feegs for her first interview since this win to talk about the uphill battle ahead and why she could no longer stand by when crime is “out of control” within her electorate.

Leader of the National Party David Littleproud joins Feegs for the Sunday Breakdown. They discuss the future of Immigration Minister Andrew Giles, an update on his party’s stance on nuclear energy and what he thinks people in the bush need from the next state budget.

Elsewhere on the show:  President of the Queensland Jewish Board of Deputies Jason Steinberg joins Peter ahead of todays “Stop the Hate, Mate” rally, organised by ‘Never Again is Now’, that aims to take a stand against the increased hate which has been directed at Jewish people throughout Australia since October 7. Jason also comments on the four Hamas hostages who were freed in Gaza this weekend.

Zero-Fox Bar co-owner Lea Angeles calls in following the annual Teneriffe Festival. She gives Feegs an insight into yesterday’s proceedings, particularly following last year’s reports of drugs, noise levels, vandalism and even threats of violence marred the festival.

The world also lost an icon this week: radio and ‘Hey Hey it’s Saturday’ star John Blackman. Nine Entertainment Reporter Peter Ford joins Peter to reminisce on this enormous loss.

PLUS: Elvis is in the building! Performer Rob Mallet has had the honour of playing the King in the production of ‘Elvis: A Musical Revolution’. Rob joins Feegs to talk about the show, his own beginnings and the preparation needed to play someone as iconic as Elvis Presley.

Finally, 4BC Sports Reporter Sam Leckie provides an extensive update of the weekend action and we look ahead to the coming week with your long-range weather forecast.
