Government needs to justify public servant increase
The Palaszczuk Government has defended the growth in senior public servants claiming the increase was due to hiring frontline health workers including doctors.
According to Public Service Workforce Data, in three years, the number of top level bureaucrats went from nearly 14,000 to 18,000; a 30 per cent increase.
Senior servants are those earning around $150,000 a year.
Queensland Opposition Leader, Deb Frecklington says the Labor government need to justify this increase.
